Join RUSH organizer, Josh, for this Electronic Press Kit workshop as he teaches best practices in making a competitive, clear and full EPK in representing yourself as a DJ.
In this workshop, you will learn and receive:
- What to include in an EPK to make it robust, concise and competitive.
- Ways to structure and format an EPK.
- We will go over the framework of a short and long bio harnessing your voice to share with promoters who you are and why they should book you.
- We will take headshots and editorial pictures to use in your EPK.
- On a TBD date after March 28, you will receive a 1 hour filmed DJ slot to clip and use in your EPK. This is part of a yet to be released RUSH project that you get to be a part of first.
- 1 hour mix for SoundCloud or upload space of your choice.
You might be a great selector and the dancers you've partied with might agree but how do you convey this to a club or party organizer that’s never seen you before?
About Josh:
Josh offers expertise from two lenses, one as a past emerging visual artist and two as a current party organizer, promoter, and talent booker.
He has submitted his EPK’s applying for exhibitions at galleries successfully showing for years as a visual artist working in painting and performance.
Now, he’s on the other end, receiving EPK and working with artists to book them for RUSH.
He sees the good and the bad kits and wants to share his advice to help elevate our local scene to best voice and represent the vast depth of its sound and artistry.
He has worked with international talent who have their practices dialled and emerging DJ’s who are learning by doing.
It is his goal to help emerging DJ’s navigate the technicalities of promoting themselves in order to play more parties.
It is a delight when DJ’s send an awesomely built and clear EPK to bookers but a lot of the time this isn't the case and that’s okay, it’s a learning process.
This is your opportunity to learn how to best represent yourself in navigating booking technicals.
